Dear All,
I live in London and yesterday I attended the Eagles in concert at London O2 Arena in their very first date for the new album Long Road Out Of Eden Tour 2008...
They are absolutely fantastic!!!
I am still dizzy!!!
3h and 1/2 of superb entertainment... what a feeling... They are great!!!
It was my first time, actually it could have been the second one, because when they went to Rome, a couple of years ago, in May, I bought the tickets for me and for my family, but the night before the concert I fell ill... Chicken pox... So I could not attend the concert...
Well, this time no chicken pox, nor small pox nor cholera, thanks God.....:
I am still stunned, they are exceptional... They are too perfect to be true, I still can’t believe of what a great performance they gave us.
The new album is a typical Eagles brand, but so modern, up to date!!! I was presented with it last Xmas and I can’t get bored to listen to it over and over again.
The magic fact is that this multi-variegate band, keeps many music styles, so yesterday I can say I attended to many concerts in one: Pop - Rock - Hard Rock - Blues - Country - psychedelic - surf etc....
Besides, their audience is a multi-aged one, from 70 to 20 (yesterday there were two 21 years old young ladies sitting beside me, and they knew all the songs lyrics by heart!!!)
The concert was actually an happening, the audience sang along too and at the end everybody was standing and dancing and jumping and screaming and singing along with our champions.
At a certain point of the concert I found myself standing and screaming to Don: "Don I love you!!!!"... It’s incredible the good power that this gentlemen have on stage. They just rock and are absolutely marvellous!!!
I wish I could attend all the other dates... One after the other!!!
I arrived very early at the Arena, I knew they were having their sound check.
I know it mighy sound terribly silly but, even if I knew it was impossible to attend the sound check, nor I tried to get in, I would just like to be there in the afternoon while they were doing the last rehearsal just to breath as the same air as they were breathing...
I just walked in around the Arena with my ipod on and, of course all Eagles songs in my ears... Just preparing myself for this great event I had been waiting for such a long time.
When at last at 06.30 pm the gates were opened and the audience were allowed in I had such a great emotion, stepping inside the actual concert area. I had never been there before and it is actually very big and beautiful.
My seat was at less than 15 mt from the stage, back to it on the left hand side.
They open the concert with four songs from the new great album, then they proceeded with Hotel California, and the audience, already stunned, went absolutely crazy... thousands of mobile phones rose... So we can say that the concert or at least many songs of it were actually attended by many more people of the ones who were in the Arena...
They alternated new songs to greatest hits in a magic way.
Long Road Out Of Eden, the song which gives title to the album, was performed at the beginning of the second part.
Tim, Joe, Glenn and Don were in a perfect shape, excellent vocal quality as usual, hansom and very elegant in their dark suit, white shirt and dark tie. In the middle of the concert they took their jackets off and kept performing in white shirt and at the end, after the third encore section, Don put his jacket back on to sing Desperado and wrap this terrific concert.
I was not very far from the stage, so close to be able to see their facial expressions… These gentlemen have a lot of fun in what they do, they are terrific professionals, most talented, they all can write in a superb and one from the other different way, they rehears a lot and the result is undoubtedly what it is… Stunning!!!
They all can brilliantly sing, play guitars and piano and drums and percussions and what else? Oh yeah... the audience hearts....
Their way of moving on stage is also very fascinating, they are tremendously charismatic, each of them in his own personality.
They are also ironic and auto-ironic, Glen is very funny while dancing along in All she wants to do is dance, Joe is a best guitarist ever and also so communicative, he has got such a vis comica, that only a little wink can change all his facial expression…
Tim looks such a gentle soul and his way of talking to the audience is so nice…
Don looks very focused, like in his own world while performing but, at the same time in a terrific contact with the environment surrounding him, his guitar, or drums, or percussions, his mic, band mates, the audience; he seems to be absolutely in and absolutely somewhere else at the same time; besides Don has got rare and most beautiful blue deep eyes…
Big hands to all the other musicians they have now been performing with since 2000, who were nicely introduced almost at the end of the concert by Glen Frey: a wonderful brass section (the mighty horns), whom one of them also plays violin, terrific piano and keyboards players, drummer and percussionist and a special applause to the other lead guitar that can absolutely melt in a perfect way with the band spirit.
Wonderful light setting at the Arena, camera direction, choreography and set design.
I am so happy the Eagles wrote another album after 28 years and that this one (only released in October 2007) became the 1st 2007 sold album in U.S. right away… This is a big lesson to all the parvenu pretended singers who can last only half a season…
I left the arena last night completely voiceless, so much I sang along and screamed...
I have been singing for so many years their songs, but now that I had the lucky chance and the honour to participate to one of their concerts, I feel them even more...
At the end of the concert I walked out of the arena feeling ten feet high and with a very funny look on my face, like a silly smile... a sort of a lost gaze and, if I think of the concert again, (thing that is actually happening quite often ever since), I still can feel the corners of my mouth going up into that silly smile again...
I will never stop thanking their talent...
The Eagles is super class, talent in writing eternal melodies and pure poetry in lyrics, able to set fire to 20 thousand people souls with their deep, spectacular and true from the heart live performances, gentle souls who can still bow to the audience at the end of their concert…
THANKS FOR EXISTING GENTLEMEN!!!
And for keeping to give us such an ocean of feelings.
Keep on rocking guys!
Peace and Serenity Love xxx, Sabry
