SOP My little review

Sat 25/04/09 h. 17.30 - cinema Empire - Leicester Square - London:

Today has been a sunny and warm day and after my weekly Meditation I met family and friends at Cinema Empire - Leicester Sq - London to go and see State of Play.

For us it's already a sort of a tradition and my family and friends are always keen on accompanying me to see new Russell's film, first of all because they do love and have in high regard Russell as a great actor and also because they really enjoy watching my reactions...

It has been my 1st time at Cinema Empire and it's really fantastic, even better than Odeon

Well, State of Play in my opinion is and incredible Film, I have really loved it and tomorrow I am going back to watch it again in a private view, I mean by my self

SOP is a classic American-politics-journalist-thriller, on purpose, I did not want to read the story before viewing it in order not to spoil the surprise, nor you will find spoilers in this little review.

For whom is a novel/cinema thriller fan, the real "villan" is easily found out, but this is not important

The absolute beauty of this film is in its perfect rhithm and timing and in the wise casting

Superb photography and Cut, suspense technique, tight and fast pace, long film (more than 2 hr) but it goes in a blink.

Very good Ben Afflect and Helen Mirren that, though in a supporting role, is always a protagonist

Big hands to all cast and crew

Russell?
Well, his interpretation in this film is at his top and even more... He gained even more nuances

After his personalization/interpretation of the character, you leave the cinema willing to become a journalist... His charisma has multiplied and increased magnificently

We though we might know all the mimic expressions Russell is capable to present a character with, well... forget it... he keeps more and more surprising us, with a 1000 more nuances, it seem that he got a most powerful submarine to get even deeper into this character

His performance is breathless and outstanding, I actually lived for a bit more than 2 hr in semi apnoea following his paths, stuck to his dirty coat and shabby hair, he allowed me to be into the Film, wrapped around his being an honourable journalist...

Thanks once again Russell for presenting the wole with this new gem that is Cal McAffrey and all his refracting and multiple faces...

Be ready for very long eyes shots... In my Body of Lies review I defined them as a mountain lake on a very sunny day... cerulean waves of a sudden to ripple in a March storm... scent of rain and smell of musk... green blue pastel colours with tiger strains as if laid by chance in the vast canvas of the sky...
that is nothing in comparison to the million new and deep expressions those eyes can give in this film...

Sabry
